Since my daughter was about 1 year of age, my husband and I have spent a great deal of time reading about children's Eczema and how to best deal with it. We noticed that she was constantly rubbing behind her ears - she had terribly dry, flaking skin which even bled from time to time. It looked awful and had to have been extremely uncomfortable. One trip to the family doctor later, we learned that D had Eczema. It's been a constant struggle to find appropriate skincare products to either heal her sore, dry skin or at the very least not to irritate it further. Once our Son was born, we had to double our efforts as it would turn out that his Eczema is even worse. Some infants have cradle cap -- Our son is 13 months old, and what looks like cradle cap is actually Eczema. It's never completely gone away, only been slightly better or slightly worse than usual. And in fact, it seems to be getting worse at the moment, spreading to his ears as well - I'm assuming due to the time of year and the dry air.
