Our Review:
The Little Miss is big into Mermaids these days, especially Ariel!  As huge Disney fans, we were excited about the opportunity to check out one of our favourite little princesses and watch her meet Ariel in this fun film.  We loved the storyline and it's now one that D acts out over and over again with her Disney dolls.  As for the Handsome Mister, he liked the ship and the fun music!  I like that there are bonus episodes of Sophia The First, which is such an adorable show.  This particular edition of the DVD came with some beautiful friendship bracelets which D shared with her friend who is moving and changing schools in the summer.  You definitely get your money's worth with this DVD set!  It's always nice to have a movie to fall back on that will cheer up your kids on a rainy day.  And of course, this is one movie that we'll continue watching over and over.

Million Dollar Arm Advance Screening Double Pass #Giveaway #Winnipeg

Million Dollar Arm is coming to theatres on May 16th, and Born 2 Be Mom is giving away 1 double pass to the advanced screening in Winnipeg on Wednesday, May 14th at 7:30pm @ Silver City St.Vital.

As a long time fan of Mad Men, I'm looking forward to seeing Jon Hamm on the big screen!  He'll always be the handsome and mysterious Don Draper to me, but in this movie Hamm plays Sports Agent JB Bernstein.  Here's a little bit about the film:

MILLION DOLLAR ARM
Based on a true story, sports agent JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” With the help of cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout Ray Poitevint (Alan Arkin), he discovers Dinesh (played by Madhur Mittal from “Slumdog Millionaire”) and Rinku (played by Suraj Sharma from “Life of Pi”), two 18 year old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home to America to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India — the boys, who have never left their rural villages — are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball — JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell) — learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.

Want to see it?  Enter to win below.  Contest open to residents of Canada.  Winners must be able to attend the Winnipeg screening on May 14th at Silver City St.Vital.  Ends May 2nd, 2014.

Good Luck!

Disney's The Lone Ranger on DVD/Blu-Ray #Review

Disney's The Lone Ranger is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray combo pack! This one is for the parents (and older kids) -- And if you're a Johnny Depp fan like I am, it's especially for YOU!

About the Film:
Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer star in The Lone Ranger, from Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Director Gore Verbinski. It’s a wild ride of high velocity action, explosions and gunfights that brings the famed masked legend to life through brand-new eyes. The Lone Ranger (Hammer), the last of his kind, teams with Tonto (Depp), a dark and mysterious vigilante, to seek vengeance after justice has failed them. It’s a runaway train of epic surprises, as these two unlikely heroes must learn to work together before the ultimate showdown between good and evil explodes.

My husband and I were lucky enough to catch this one when it came out in theatres - but the DVD Blu-ray means we can watch it at home on movie night.  Additionally, this version comes with a digital copy -- meaning you can take it on the road with you (via a video format file), and watch from any of your devices!  While I would never typically choose to sit down and watch a "western" film, this one is completely not the norm.  It's one of those movies I will happily watch again and again.  I really enjoyed it!  There was lots of action, a few intense moments and of course, true to Johnny Depp's quirky acting form there were lots of giggles to be had as well!  I wouldn't show this one to the younger kids, it is certainly for an older audience with the violence and mature themes.

Check it out for yourselves - and let me know what you think!
